Inflation and rising prices have taken a toll on most housewives. Many householders look for ways to economize in the kitchen. Here are a few tips one can follow:

  • revive a stale piece of cake by keeping it in an airtight jar with two slices of bread.
  • a stale loaf of bread can be freshened by dipping it in milk or water for about a minute, after this it should be put into the oven for 15mins until it is crisp.
  • You can boil a cracked egg perfectly, if you add a few teaspoons of vinegar to boiling water.
  • To make fluffier omelettes, you should add a teaspoon of flour to each egg. This also helps the omelette to retain its shape longer.
  • Did you know that you should never throw away the water in which rice has been boiled. It contains loads of vitamins. Cool the leftover water,add a tinge of lemon juice and salt to make a refreshing drink.
  • Dry, hardened cheese should be grated and used for cooking in sauces and omelettes.
