BRING A SPARKLE TO YOUR EYES

1. To strengthen your eyes follow these steps:
a) Look at the rising sun every morning till the redness of the sun is visible. Avoid looking at the sun when it is at its peak or yellow.

b) Eat carrots and apples as they contain carotene that helps maintain a radiance in the eyes.

c) Hold your left or right thumb at eye level. Keep your eyes transfixed to observing your thumb as you move it left , right, up and down. These eye exercises help to strengthen your vision. However, avoid doing it more than two times a day.

2. A remedy for tired eyes:

a) Dip 2 pieces of cottonwool in a cup of cold milk. Squeeze out any excess milk from the cotton wool and   put the cotton pieces on your closed eyelids. Repeat this  process for 10-15minutes or till the milk turns warm.

b) Slices of cucumber placed on closed eyelids provide good relief from tired eyes.

Preparing Meals on a Budget


Inflation and rising prices have taken a toll on most housewives. Many householders look for ways to economize in the kitchen. Here are a few tips one can follow:

  • revive a stale piece of cake by keeping it in an airtight jar with two slices of bread.
  • a stale loaf of bread can be freshened by dipping it in milk or water for about a minute, after this it should be put into the oven for 15mins until it is crisp.
  • You can boil a cracked egg perfectly, if you add a few teaspoons of vinegar to boiling water.
  • To make fluffier omelettes, you should add a teaspoon of flour to each egg. This also helps the omelette to retain its shape longer.
  • Did you know that you should never throw away the water in which rice has been boiled. It contains loads of vitamins. Cool the leftover water,add a tinge of lemon juice and salt to make a refreshing drink.
  • Dry, hardened cheese should be grated and used for cooking in sauces and omelettes.
